The conflict minerals most commonly referred to today are the “three T’s” or, tungsten, tantalum, and tin, plus gold. These minerals are essential to the tech industry producing consumer electronics such as cell phones, video games, and computers. Many of these minerals are mined from eastern Africa; as suppliers to the tech industry buy these minerals they fund ongoing conflict in the region. Those minerals end up in the supply chain, tainting the electronics we use today.
