FEAR Project: High School Presentations

November 28th, 2007

The two Alison’s and I returned to Mercer Island High School to give a talk on sexual violence to classes. We have a very receptive teacher and…I can’t remember if this is our second or third time back. It was Allison’s (on right) first time speaking for FEAR Project, and it was largely her outline we followed. I liked the change in style; it was much more conversational. Alison (on left) had flown back from vacation that morning on the red eye. I finished a rough draft of Erika’s story at 02.30 the night before.

We did a little survey at the beginning of class. I told a story about a girl and a guy at a party and how they had sex. We asked if the sex was consensual; most said no. Then they were asked if it was rape. Again, most said no.

We have our work cut out for us.
