Geneva

April 3rd, 2006

The international leg:
three scotches
one wine
two liters of water
two movies
an imitation of chicken and vegetables
one hour of sleep.

Flying into Geneva was something to behold. It was pretty bumpy, even in an Airbus 330, but as we dropped below the clouds the lake opened up below us. The shore curved along, a gentle pastoral green which gave way to darker, forested slopes. Beyond rose the snow clad slopes of the Alps proper, terminating in the distance in rugged walls of rock, glaciated, forbidding, and the reason I came.
